China Towne Furniture Completes $600K in Renovations

Solvay, N.Y. — China Towne Furniture & Mattress is wrapping up a two-year-old renovation project this week.

The project began in October 2013. It later incorporated repair work after a fire in the store’s basement in February 2014 which sent smoke throughout the building. Rita and John Yennock founded China Towne Furniture & Mattress in 1970.

The blaze ruined the entire inventory and showroom, said Morgan Marzano, assistant operations manager. Marzano is the daughter of current China Towne president and owner, Jay Yennock.

Yennock’s parents, Rita and John Yennock, founded the business in 1970.

China Towne is celebrating the end of the renovation project with a ribbon cutting and invite-only cocktail party tonight.

The entire 55,000-square-foot showroom has been overhauled. Office and customer support areas also got upgraded.

The project included a full rebuild of the store’s front entrance. It’s now located in the center of the main building.

The renovations cost more than $600,000.

The store is located in the former Iroquois China factory building. The renovations
included adding a museum with old pictures and history on the factory, Yennock said.
